Gastroparesis Signs & Symptoms (ex. Nausea, Weight Loss)
Gastroparesis is a gastrointestinal disorder, essentially “stomach paralysis” that is due to delayed emptying of stomach contents into the small intestine. This delayed emptying, or paralysis of the stomach, can have many different causes and risk factors (please check out my lesson on that particular topic). Due to food sitting in the stomach for extended periods of time (due to delayed gastric emptying), gastroparesis can have a variety of classic signs and symptoms, which we discuss in this lesson.

If I eat late in bed midnight, about 7am -11am my stomach back and whole body go into an intense pain clammy sweat, back pain, bloating upper stomach cant use the bathroom. So this morning I finally was able to throw up some and hurried made large amounts of green tea, and coffee. Laying on massage balls on my back somehow seems to be the only pain relief for my stomach. After I wake up it seems better but still belching tons. Let's just say I'm not going to eat anything today untill my stomach feels completely digested. Only green tea or maybe a salad at most. I'm lactose intolerant so I think it has a relation to eating late.

I'm questioning if this is the underlying issue I have that causes my GERD. I've had stomach issues off and on for my entire life. Even as an infant my mother said I was fussy, refused tummy time, and had to sit upright even when sleeping. When I was little I kept feeling like I was going to throw up every single time I would go to bed and remember falling asleep several times beside the toilet because of the nausea. I was medicated for GERD, stabilized, and was able to get off medication. I went back on as a teen, it got really bad, and then I was again stabilized and weaned off for a few years. Now I'm starting to have issues again. My main symptom has ALWAYS been nausea and I feel like I'm going to puke but never do (but God sometimes just to make it stop I wish I did!). Within the last month or two my portions have become smaller and I'm loosing weight, I feel bloated, regurgitate my food sometimes, belch like a man, and even had some instances where I wake up with a really sore throat in the morning from a bad episode the night before. I'm constipated all the time too (I'm not in pain or anything… but not normal you know?) and I suffer from post nasal drip issues too. I seriously think my stomach is just slow at doing it's job and I did read that mild cases of this come and go.
Sad thing is, I didn't realize my portions were so small until people pointed that out and were growing concerned. I felt full… and so I thought it was good enough. However, heavy meals make me fill up much quicker and make me nauseous than simpler ones. What do you all thing? Have I been misdiagnosed with GERD? I just want my body health, and know how to help it!

When i go to a restaurant and have a big meal, i often feel full very quickly and stomach gets bloated. I also find my food struggles to reach my stomach (at the lower end), and often finding i have to drink liquids to help push it down as i struggle to breath. I dont get heartburn….i do have IBS though, but not sure if this is something different…

I started getting an unusual condition where I'd start getting increasingly poor quality sleep due to stomach/intestinal gurgling and cramps in the early morning. At first, it was only enough to cause me to drift in and out, but after a week or two, it got so bad that I'd wake up 1-3 hours earlier than expected, and be unable to go back to sleep. Then the pain/gurgling would go away within an hour of sitting up and/or eating (there was no urgency to go to the bathroom). And now it's coming back and I'm unsure of why. One theory is that it could be lactose that somehow has accumulated. I remember eating quite a lot of ice cream a couple of weeks ago, it did not affect me then, but could it now?
This lasted every for about 3-4 months, with nothing seeming to have a direct effect on making it better/worse (diet, timing of meals, probiotics, an antispasmodic before bed, etc.).
The cramps/gurgling doesn't start waking me up until after 5-6 hours of lying down. Also, when I try to get back to sleep, it would just make it worse or keep it going. I remember sometimes standing up early in the morning with my sleepily eyes half closed for a while, just so that I could get back to sleep, because that would make it go away for another hour or so.
So I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Happening primarily during the late night/early morning, waking you up from sleep? And are there any particular medications, supplements or probiotics that have helped? The key thing is something that has either a long-duration or delayed effect, since the cramps/gurgling doesn't start waking me up until after 5-6 hours of lying down.
