Gastroparesis is a gastrointestinal disorder, essentially “stomach paralysis” that is due to delayed emptying of stomach contents into the small intestine. This delayed emptying, or paralysis of the stomach, can have many different causes and risk factors (please check out my lesson on that particular topic). Due to food sitting in the stomach for extended periods of time (due to delayed gastric emptying), gastroparesis can have a variety of classic signs and symptoms, which we discuss in this lesson.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Some people may see my video titles as click-bait. YouTubers optimise their video’s meta data for discovery due to how the algorithm is like. This isn’t anything new. Most people who’ve been watching YouTube for years would understand this. If you’re unhappy and get triggered by this, well, this channel isn’t for you then. I’ve provided free workout schedules and programs since day 1 and have always optimised my meta data as such so that’s not going to change.

Having said that, it doesn’t mean the workout do not work. You will still see results by following a suitable program schedule, watching your diet, being in a deficit or surplus (based on your goals), doing exercises in good form, etc. These are all equally important factors. You’re not going to get abs, grow a booty, grow biceps magically from 1 or 2 videos, in 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks cause everyone is different. I’ve explain multiple times throughout videos throughout my channel over years that it takes time and lots of factors, so don’t take a video title out of context. Targetting fat loss is not scientifically proven. Everyone is different and it takes time.

Dr. Jason Fung: Fasting as a Therapeutic Option for Weight Loss

Dr. Jason Fung, MD, is a nephrologist and expert in the use of intermittent fasting and low-carbohydrate diets for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes. In this presentation, delivered on Aug. 2, 2018, at the 2018 CrossFit Health Conference in Madison, Wisconsin, Fung shares his first-hand experiences with “The Mess” and discusses how he shifted his research and medical practices as a result of those experiences.

Fung’s objectives for his presentation include:
1. Understanding why long-term weight loss is so difficult.
2. Introducing the concept of therapeutic fasting.
3. Understanding some myths and misunderstandings associated with the fasting process.

He recalls treating obese and diabetic patients with traditional methods, which included what he characterizes as poor dietary recommendations and a slurry of drugs. He explains, “It became obvious that I’m just sort of holding their hand until they get their heart attack, until they get dialysis, until they go blind, until we chop their feet off.”

“It’s really sad to realize that the profession that you’ve chosen is not really helping people,” he says. This realization compelled him to diagnose the problems associated with traditional care and seek alternative treatment methods for his patients.

Fung historicizes what he calls “the modern eating pattern,” which emerged in 1977 in the U.S. with the development of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. He notes the 1977 guidelines led to the consumption of more grains and sugars, which in turn led to people “eating often, eating late, and eating all the time.”

Incidences of obesity and Type 2 diabetes reached epidemic levels, and the most common treatments long have been drug interventions. Unfortunately, the prevailing non-pharmaceutical prescription — to eat less and move more — has a 99.9% failure rate. Fung observes that popular wisdom tells us to blame the patient and assume he or she did not adhere to the prescription. He claims a basic understanding of metabolism suggests otherwise, however.

Fung explains why a significant reduction in caloric intake leads to a decrease in basal metabolism. This biological inevitability is ignored by the proponents of the “calories in, calories out” fallacy, he observes.

He also explains why intermittent fasting is an effective alternative to traditional treatments for obesity and diabetes. The modern eating pattern keeps our insulin levels high all the time as we eat over long durations, and when insulin remains high all the time, Fung explains, our bodies store food energy as fat, and we remain hungry.

Intermittent fasting, on the other hand, allows insulin levels to drop, which puts us in burning mode rather than storing mode.
Fung claims his recommendations are so effective that patients no longer need to say, “Oh wow, I have to go see my doctor to see what pill I need,” or, “I need to go see my doctor to see if he needs to stick a stent in me.” Instead, Fung explains, “We’re giving you the power to take back your own health, because you’re not gonna get it from anywhere else.”

1.Keep track of your choices. Write down what you’re eating and when. Being mindful is so powerful.

2.Manage emotional eating. Ask yourself: “Am I really hungry? Or am I eating for a reason like stress or anger?” Learn how to replace emotional eating behaviors with other activities like walking or taking a hot bath.

3.Do not skip breakfast The study shows that those that eat breakfast in the morning, found more success in losing weight. Having breakfast in the morning keep us more energetic for the whole day.

4.No sugar products Avoid eating more sweets or sugar products. It will lead to increase your weight. Occasionally it is fine to have sweets.

5.Eat water filled fruits Watermelon, salad or soups help you to feel more satisfied on few calories. So you can start your meal with those water filled fruits to eat less of your main course.

6.Exercises Regularly go for fast walking or jogging for at least 30 minutes in the morning or evening. 30 minutes walking or jogging will burn your calories and body fat. It is very easy and simple exercise which can be done regularly.

7.Drink Water: Your body needs water to work at peak efficiency. Water not only flushes toxins from your body, it is also essential for fat burning! In addition, you’ll retain more water when you’re not giving your body enough.

8.Eat more foods rich in fiber Eating foods rich in fiber helps to lose weight. Research shows that those increased intake of fiber food found losing weight. Increase intake of green vegetables, fruits, grains and beans, which are rich in fiber. It will help you to feel more satisfied in few calories and prevent you to eat more. Avoid bread, pasta, fried foods, white rice, sandwiches and dairy products.

9.Keep a food diary – A food dairy will help you to see where you are eating wrong and see the places that may make you put on weight. Most people underestimate the number of calories they are eating.

10. Eat smaller portions more often – Smaller portions of food eaten more often will boost your metabolism while also ensuring that you are fuller for longer.

11.Enjoy your food It is important that you enjoy your food and that your senses are stimulated and aroused when you eat. Try out the foods with different textures, colors, flavors and aromas so that it stimulates your senses and satiates your hunger. By this you can cut on your cravings and eat healthy.

12. Stay motivated Reaching your weight loss goals is made a lot easier if you stay motivated on a regular basis. For example, read some inspiring books, watch YouTube videos, and look at pictures of people who have the kind of body you want to achieve.
